The remains of the Pools of Bethesda were discovered by the White Fathers while excavating the grounds of St. Anne’s church.  The largest pool is 350 feet long, 200 feet wide, and 40 feet deep.<br />

“Now there is in Jerusalem at the Sheep Gate a pool called  in Hebrew Bethesda, with five porticoes.  In these lay a large number of ill, blind and crippled.”  John 5: 2-3
